Ithemba Shared Solutions is proud to be a third-party vendor for City Power, a company providing electricity to the city of Johannesburg, which is one of the biggest metros on the continent. Playing an integral role in keeping the lights on in as many households as possible is a challenge that requires significant collaboration and strategic partnership, something Ithemba has achieved through its joint venture with Flash.
Using specially adapted point-of-sale terminals, Flash vends a large range of value-added services through spaza shops located in the hearts of communities across South Africa. With Flash, Ithemba can reach over 10 million consumers across South Africa, often in areas where utility sales were historically unavailable. Flash’s extensive footprint makes it easy for customers to buy electricity and other necessities close to home. Their large product basket also drives footfall into the stores, which has a positive effect on small and medium-sized businesses.
“A tender win is something to be celebrated because we know we’re not the only ones who benefit. Ithemba is all about mutual growth. From the companies, we tender for, to the consumers, and the shops they buy from, it’s a win-win situation,” says Arthur Price, General Manager of Ithemba.
