Thanks to its long and proven track record of service delivery, Ithemba Shared Solutions can again announce the successful conclusion of its bid to be a third-party vendor of prepaid electricity tokens for the City of Cape Town.
Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, a Category A municipality, stretches from Gordon’s Bay to Atlantis and includes the suburbs of Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain. It is also the home of Ithemba’s headquarters.
“This is the fourth time we have been awarded the tender, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to grow further and enhance the Mother City’s ability to provide electricity for her people, especially in the areas where it is needed most,” says Arthur Price, General Manager of Ithemba.
Through its joint venture with Flash, Ithemba can make prepaid electricity and water tokens available to over 10 million people across South Africa. This is done through Flash’s innovative point-of-sale machines, which enable shop owners to increase their customer offering by selling a large basket of value-added services, including utilities.
The fact that Flash forms part of the fabric of outlying communities, means that people can purchase electricity conveniently, close to where they live. Ithemba is all about closing the gap between municipalities and the people they serve, something that can only be achieved through strategic partnership.
